Being Grateful For Everything

July 19, 2017

Today I want to share a little about something that torments and plagues most of us. “Being grateful for everything (but actually it is easier when it is some of the things) we experience in our lives”; the good........ and the bad?? because they are a part of life. How many of us celebrate and can even ululate when we get the promotions, the house we have always wanted, that good health report to a point of feeling like shouting and screaming to rest of the world so that they can celebrate with you? But feel like life has been sucked out of you and you are dying slowly when you get that rejection, be it for a promotion at work, going through depression, disappointment, grief and the list can go on and on.

In recent times, I found myself questioning if the bad things happening are a test and meant to break me till I cannot take it anymore. How am I supposed to be grateful for the bad that is going on? Am I supposed to take it like a pinch of salt and keep it moving? This has been a test and I am awaiting the triumphant story that will come out of it because it will surely come. I love the women that I have in my life because not only do they remind me to be a prayer warrior, but look at any bad situation that God can only be preparing me for something bigger and better. When it is “not yet time”; your character, strength and beliefs can and will be tested. The good thing though is that it is not the end of the world. One needs a good support structure when going through serious testing situations. And now I have also been surrounding myself with people who know how to bring the best out of me.
Being closer to God in my time of need especially when I feel like I am a lost soul has made me find peace and gratitude in the simplest of things. My mother has always encouraged me to read and reflect on the story of Job. A man who had it all but went through serious tribulations; yet he still held onto his faith to see him through and it did indeed. I am on this journey holding on; so can you. Even this too shall pass!
