Don't Just Settle For Potential
December 21, 2016
Today’s
post is a little encouragement that I have for my sisters and brothers because
I know what happens every year around this time. Even though this is a
joyous time to be with loved ones and family alike, people do become the true
versions of themselves. I say so because
a person will always be consistent with everything they do. If all of a sudden
they have behaviors or mannerisms you are not used to, they were just hiding
them. Only certain situations can bring that side of theirs out and this time
may be one of those situations. Don’t despair, weigh your options and make a
decision that you will be able to live with for the rest of your life because this
sets the tone of what your future may look like.
So what am
I talking about? I am talking about people suddenly attending events they would
not necessarily do so any other day; them not being reachable when you want to
talk to them and using excuses that the phone was on the charger or they forgot
it at home; basically coming up with excuses when they have to spend time with
you. This is a behavior that you can correct and failure to do so, know that it
will happen every time. Just ask yourself if you are willing to stand for this
though? I am not saying hound your significant other and guard every move, but
make sure that the person is still the same person you enjoyed having around
all year. People do funny things around this time; please do not settle for
just about any “nonsense” for lack of a better word.
I feel like
we are a part of a generation that says we need to love and settle for the “potential”
someone possesses. We need to stop loving for “potential” and get our priorities
right. You need to share the same goals; vision and aspirations. Most
importantly, you must be working towards the same end goal. If they have money
but do not respect you enough to be honest and treat you right, that person is
not for you. They can also be broke, lazy and the so called “charma boy or
IT-girl” but have nothing to offer in terms of substance and “potential”, let
them go. To be quite honest, everyone has potential. Others just become more
successful than others. As long as the
drive is there; and you push and support each other to be the best versions of yourselves,
you will mostly likely be a success.
Friends and
family, Christmas is a time we unwind and reflect on the happenings of the year
with our feet up in the air, RELAXED. It is not a time to be stressed, chasing
an adult with +/- a full set of teeth, ah ah ah. It is not worth it. You force
it, you get what you want. Let it go! Happy Festive Season friends!
