I
have always been an avid traveler but lately, my love for it has hit an all-time
high. It is midyear and I am already planning my 2019 holiday. Is it weird
that I like to plan at least 8 months ahead of time? Or am I the only one who swears by doing so? I believe that planning in time affords one the opportunity and flexibility to choose where they want to stay, what to do, how to get there etc. I find that you also tend to get the best
deals then. Hence one of my favorite proverbs is “The earliest bird catches the
fattest worm”. To me, this applies to all the important things in life. We prioritize what is important to us and for me traveling and holidays, in general, are synonymous with my lifestyle. I look forward to it for so many reasons and if I have to name one, it has to be because I make memories that will stay with me forever. Often than not, I come back rejuvenated and ready to tackle everyday life with a positive outlook.
Every year, my partner and I go on at least one local holiday and one
international holiday. Some of the places we frequent are Cape Town,
Plettenberg Bay, Knysna, Sabie, Hoedspruit, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, etc. Though
not all require you to fly, I still compare flying vs driving. I do this from cost, time and value perspective. To be quite honest,
nothing beats flying. Not only will you get there quicker, you get to save
money on the wear and tear of your car. You also get to arrive at your
destination (often than not) refreshed and ready to start your adventures.
To
those of us who prefer flying than driving, it is best to be equipped with and
to know when the best times to travel are. Fun fact, it was just the other day
when I learnt that the Johannesburg-Cape Town flight route is one of the busiest flight routes.
Who would have thought huh? Did you also know that the cheapest day to buy airline tickets and to fly out
domestically is on a Tuesday or even a Wednesday? It is also advisable to fly in
the afternoon than morning because most business people fly out in the mornings. Also in terms of months, February and August can save you extra
coins as there are not a lot of holidays and the time is not favorable for many.
I hope this post was helpful especially to those that are planning on travelling soon. Just so you know, this post is in collaboration with TravelStart.
